Revitalization of the Northern-2 Boiler Plant: New Horizons for Odesa

The extensive restoration of the chimney of the «Northern-2» boiler plant, which was damaged by bad weather in November 2023, has been completed.

The restoration work was carried out with financial support from UNICEF. The chimney of the Odesa municipal heating company «Teplopostachannya» has been put into operation and is already supplying heat to 120,000 residents, as well as educational and medical institutions in the area.

«This winter, UNICEF's priority was to provide warmth to families and children, as well as to ensure the functioning of key services they rely on, including healthcare, electricity, water supply, sanitation, and the operation of educational institutions, especially in the areas hardest hit by the war,» stated Munir Mamedzade, the head of the UNICEF office in Ukraine.

On behalf of the Odesa community, Mayor Gennady Trukhanov expressed heartfelt gratitude to UNICEF for its consistent support and collaboration.

«The implemented project is a vivid example of international cooperation and support that we feel in everything, and particularly important - in the restoration and development of our city's critical infrastructure. Together, we are ready to face modern challenges and can ensure comfortable living conditions for our citizens,» the Mayor of Odesa expressed his thanks.

The Mayor also shared that work on restoring the boiler plant building is ongoing, but it does not affect the technological process of providing heat to the residents of Odesa.
