On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, a delegation from the Odesa region had the honor of meeting with Mr. Arne Frankenstein, the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
During this significant meeting, as part of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, preliminary agreements were reached on cooperation in areas of experience exchange related to inclusion and accessibility across various sectors. Particular attention was given to the training of social workers and the creation of innovative barrier-free spaces for all population categories.
The German side shared valuable insights and experiences in addressing pre-trial conflicts arising from the discrimination of persons with disabilities.
Moreover, we received assurances of support in finding partners to provide the Odesa region with specialized vehicles for transporting persons with disabilities, which is extremely important for our region.
We express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Arne Frankenstein and the German side for their openness to collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the shared commitment to working towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
