Spring Adjustments in Ukraine's Energy Consumption

With the arrival of spring, the efficiency of solar power plants in Ukraine has improved, leading to calls for citizens to use high-powered electrical devices during daylight hours.

This was reported by the press service of "Ukrenergo".

"It is extremely important to follow the advice to shift energy consumption to daylight hours on sunny days. Please use high-powered electrical appliances from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM — when the energy system needs it the most", the message states.

Energy specialists explain that during the daytime, the active operation of solar power plants creates an excess of capacity in the energy system, necessitating restrictions on their operation.

In the evening peak consumption hours, on the contrary, solar energy is no longer available and needs to be replaced with other types of generation.

Additionally, it is difficult to mitigate the excess capacity in the energy system during the day through exports, as neighboring countries have solar power capacities equal to or greater than that of Ukraine.

"Currently, the difference between cloudy and sunny days equals the output of several blocks of large thermal power plants", added "Ukrenergo".

During cloudy and cold days, energy specialists urged consumers to shift electricity usage to the evening and night hours due to generation limits during the day in peak consumption periods.

Reminder:

On April 17, the morning electricity consumption level was 5% lower than the previous day — April 16.
