This was reported by Alexander Tkachuk, head of BEB detectives, during a round table discussion with the «Ukrtyutyun» Association.
According to BEB information, 16 greenhouses were found in the Ovidiopol community of the Odesa region, located in the middle of the fields. The tobacco was cultivated using a drip irrigation system, creating optimal conditions for plant growth.
After harvesting, the tobacco leaves were dried for several months in specially equipped rooms. The dried raw material was then processed using an industrial line and packaged into boxes. According to the investigation, the finished tobacco product was intended for illegal sale across Ukraine, labeled as products from well-known brands.
BEB detectives seized nearly 56 tons of cultivated and processed tobacco products. Equipment for sowing, irrigation hoses, and an industrial line for drying and grinding tobacco were also confiscated. The seized materials were sent for necessary judicial expertise as part of the investigation.
