On the night of April 30 to May 1, 2025, Odesa faced a massive attack from an enemy drone, resulting in damage to a residential building on Prince Yaroslav the Wise Avenue. Experts and the city commission for Technogenic and Ecological Safety assessed the situation and declared the building unsafe.
Currently, stabilization efforts are underway. The Mayor of Odesa, Hennadiy Trukhanov, held a meeting and inspected the progress of the work.
«Since May 16, a heavy-duty crane has been working on site. Emergency measures have been completed, and the stabilization of the building is ongoing. According to the plan, residents of the first entrance will be able to return to their apartments by June 10», — stated the mayor.
Regarding the second entrance, which was hit by the drone, a project for major repairs will be developed after the emergency work and stabilization are completed. This will determine the necessary funding for restoration.
Marina Lozovenko, head of the Kyiv District Administration, reported that residents will be offered compensation from the city budget for housing rentals during this period.
Additionally, the mayor's advisor, Veronika Etnarovich, who coordinates work with community organizations, informed that 156 apartments from this building will receive financial assistance of 10,800 UAH for each registered family member (a total of 355 people) from the NGO «Tenth of April» with support from Mercy Corps.
