The Greek Park in Odessa has seen the grand unveiling of a new sculpture, the fourth in the «Garden of Life» series – a piece titled «Time» crafted by Mikhail Reva.
This sculpture depicts a Greek hero holding a shattered amphora, symbolizing the fragility of the universe, the fleeting nature of time, and the importance of what we create.
During the ceremony, Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov emphasized that this park is not just a space, but a philosophy of life born from the collaboration between the Greek diaspora and a renowned sculptor.
«The Garden of Life is our symbol: we do not stop; we continue to create, build, and grow, even in the most challenging times», Gennady Trukhanov noted.
Consul General of the Hellenic Republic in Odessa, Mr. Christos Zacharopoulos, remarked that Odessa and Greece are intertwined by a history that began on these streets, and the Greek Park represents our unity today.
Honorary citizen of Odessa and patron, Panteleimon Bumburas, highlighted that supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine is a matter of honor for his family, but preserving culture and spreading positivity is equally essential.
«Art cannot win a war, but it can heal souls, bring light, and tell the world: we love life, we cherish peace, we strive to create. And this message we pass on, as Odessa is a city that always inspires», said the sculptor Mikhail Reva during the opening.
The first part of the «Garden of Life» exhibition was opened on June 5, 2021, when Mikhail Reva introduced a trio of sculptures: «Birth of the Soul», «Paradise Apple Tree», and «Apple of Life». According to the author's vision, the Greek Park will feature 13 sculptures, each symbolizing a specific parable about birth, spiritual growth, harmony, and the connection between humans and nature.
