The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, held a meeting focused on boosting the energy independence of the local community.
Participants visited apartment buildings equipped with rooftop solar power stations.
Mayor Trukhanov highlighted the effectiveness of these stations, which already supply electricity to residents.
He also emphasized the importance of reducing dependence on external power networks – even during power outages, residents will have electricity, elevators will operate, and heating and pumps will function, as the system relies on battery power.
Additionally, each homeowners' association can receive partial reimbursement for expenses and savings on electricity for each apartment.
Currently, four homeowners' associations covering over 3,280 residents have joined the city program for partial reimbursement of energy efficiency improvement initiatives.
The expected reduction in electricity consumption in these buildings is 30%, significantly lowering family expenses and ensuring stable power supply even during blackouts.
The Mayor also stressed the importance of continuing efforts towards the city's energy independence. Homeowners' associations aiming to transition to solar energy can take advantage of support programs that offer reimbursement of 70% to 100% of equipment costs.
Reimbursements are provided by the state Energy Efficiency Fund as part of the city support programs for homeowners' associations.
