Odesa has installed 7 cogeneration units with a total capacity of 2.2 MW as part of the project «Strengthening Urban Resilience in Essential Services in Ukraine» (SUR).
This initiative is part of the German transitional support provided at the request of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
The first two units have already been installed, ensuring stable heating for approximately 23,000 subscribers, including residential buildings, schools, and healthcare facilities.
«These units generate heat and electricity simultaneously, allowing boilers to operate even during complete power outages in the city. We are preparing for winter now to ensure our citizens have warmth under any circumstances. I am sincerely grateful to our partners,» said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The installation of cogeneration units continues.
