On October 1, Ukraine celebrates Day of Defenders of Ukraine.

This day is dedicated to the modern defenders and heroic figures from our history. Today's warriors uphold the millennia-old military traditions of the Ukrainian people.

We express our gratitude to all who defend our independence and remember those who gave their lives for Ukraine.

In Odesa, a tribute was paid to the fallen by laying flowers at the Memorial to the Fighters for Ukraine.

Local authorities, military personnel, veterans, and citizens participated in the ceremony.

Heroes' Day was established in 2014 to honor the bravery of those defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. This day is closely linked to the Feast of the Protection of the Holy Virgin, revered by Cossacks as their protector. Modern soldiers continue the Cossack traditions.
War shapes the nation. Today's defenders have won the trust of Ukrainians with their courage and selflessness. The Ukrainian army has become one of the most capable in the world and serves as Europe's shield. It is our duty to support our army and bring our victory closer.
