In the Odesa region, police have uncovered corrupt practices involving a cemetery manager. The individual was caught receiving $1500 for reserving two burial plots. He faces charges that could lead to 10 years in prison.
Officers from the strategic investigation department, together with detectives, identified the official's criminal activities. In late June, a resident of Odesa sought advice from the manager regarding reserving cemetery plots for his relatives. The manager allegedly demanded $1500 for his services.
Police apprehended the suspect at his workplace while he was accepting the illegal payment.
Based on sufficient evidence, investigators charged him under part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The court has decided to keep the suspect in custody with the option of bail.
For his actions, the man could face up to 10 years of imprisonment, along with a prohibition on holding certain positions for up to three years and confiscation of property.
The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Suvorov District Prosecutor's Office in Odesa.
