Engaging Event for Students: Unveiling Forensic Science

Recently, a captivating event took place at a local gymnasium, organized by forensic experts from the Odessa District Police Department, Captain Maxim Pasichny and Lieutenant Julia Sokerchak.

The specialists shared insights with students about the methods of evidence collection and preservation, crucial for solving crimes. The students learned about the importance of documenting traces left by criminals at crime scenes. Following this, the forensic experts showcased the contents of their professional bags, explaining how to properly take fingerprints and their distinctions.

«Everyone had the opportunity to try their hand at being a forensic specialist by fingerprinting their classmates. The students quickly grasped that quality evidence collection is key to crime solving, so they approached their tasks with great seriousness, as if actually working with a criminal», said Captain Maxim Pasichny.

The students were particularly interested in the police officers' experiences, so during the event, they also heard real-life stories illustrating the importance of swift and effective forensic work in serious crime investigations. Additionally, the law enforcement officers presented a video showcasing the work of a forensic expert from the National Police of Ukraine in investigative-operational groups involved in high-profile cases, including examinations of missile strike sites in liberated territories.

Every year, graduates face a challenging career choice, so at the end of the meeting, the police officers informed the future applicants about the specifics of studying at higher educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, which prepare police officers and assist with employment in territorial police units.

«I believe that such meetings help young people consciously choose their future profession, so I would be glad if, after this event, any of the gymnasium students decided to join the National Police of Ukraine», concluded Lieutenant Julia Sokerchak.
