Two leading maritime universities in Odessa are set to merge into a single educational institution. This decision was made during a meeting between representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the leadership of the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy” and the Odessa National Maritime University.

At the meeting held at the National University “Odessa Maritime Academy”, Deputy Minister of Education Mykhailo Vynnytskyi discussed the merger with the heads of both universities. All participants agreed that merging is a necessary step to improve the educational process.

Details regarding the timeline for the merger, the management structure of the new institution, and other crucial aspects were discussed.

The primary aim of this initiative is to create a strong modern maritime university in Ukraine and enhance maritime education overall.

Earlier reports indicated that the Maritime Academy would be integrated into the Maritime University, which faced some resistance from the academy's administration.
