Trial of Women Involved in Russian Spy Network in Odesa

In Odesa, the trial of women involved in a Russian intelligence agency is underway, as they adjusted fire on military and medical targets in the city. They transmitted information on at least 10 such sites. Two perpetrators are in custody, while a third is serving an 8-year prison sentence.

This information was provided by the Odesa regional prosecutor's office.

Law enforcement officials revealed that the accused, under the guidance of a Russian intelligence officer, collected information on the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units and critical infrastructure in Odesa.

"The organizer of this spy network turned out to be a 23-year-old local resident. Following the curator's instructions, she involved two of her friends in the criminal activities, who also supported the aggressor's actions. They independently wrote and submitted applications for employment in one of the Russian intelligence agencies.

For several months, the trio gathered and sent text messages, photos, and videos through messenger apps, along with Google Maps screenshots of the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, recruitment and social support centers, hospitals, and air defense systems. They managed to inform the occupiers about at least 10 targets", the statement read.

For their "work," the women received $500, and in case of the occupation of Odesa, they planned to take leadership positions in the trade management.

The accused were apprehended in June 2024 while gathering information about the location of a military unit. Currently, two women are in custody, while the third is already serving an 8-year sentence. Considering cooperation with the investigation, sincere remorse, and being pregnant at the time of the crime, the court imposed a lighter sentence than what the law prescribed.
