In Bolgrad District, police apprehended a 35-year-old man who fatally assaulted an acquaintance during a gathering. Charges have been filed against him, and an investigation is ongoing. The suspect faces up to 10 years in prison.

The incident occurred last week in a village within the Bessarabian community. A 42-year-old local man called the police after finding his 62-year-old guest dead in his home. Investigators sent the body for forensic examination. The preliminary cause of death was traumatic shock due to multiple injuries.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the elderly man was attacked by a 35-year-old friend with a criminal history of vehicle theft and armed hooliganism. The suspect admitted that after the host went to rest, he continued drinking with the victim. A quarrel ensued, during which he brutally assaulted the victim over alleged insults directed at his wife.

"The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and charged with intentional severe bodily harm that endangered life, resulting in the victim's death. According to Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces a penalty of up to 10 years in prison. The court has chosen a preventive measure of custody. The investigation continues under the supervision of the Bolgrad District Prosecutor's Office," said Olena Uzun-Kurtoglo, head of the investigative department.
