The Odessa region has launched the regional phase of the project «Together to Victory!». These competitions are the largest student sports events in the country, initiated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This season features a variety of sports. There is an unprecedented number of participants – nearly 20,000 players. From Odessa, 2,440 teams from 541 schools submitted applications!
Today, eight strong futsal teams (boys) competed for a single spot in the national final across two age categories (grades 5-9 and 9-11):
- Odessa Secondary School No. 35,
- Velykomykhailivskyi Lyceum,
- Pavlivskyi ZZSО,
- Saratskyi Lyceum,
- Nerubayskyi Lyceum No. 1,
- Zatyshanskyi ZZSО,
- Kamchytskyi Lyceum,
- Voznesenskyi First Lyceum.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Head of the Odessa OVA Anton Shalyhaylo addressed the young athletes and their coaches.
One of the best scorers in the history of Ukrainian football, now a sports veteran, project ambassador, and player of the Ukrainian national team and FC «Chornomorets», Oleksandr Kosyrin, known for scoring the fastest goal in the history of the Ukrainian Premier League in 2009, came to support the teams.
From the very first minutes of the competition, the region's sports mascot – the active, cheerful, and friendly Dolphin – encouraged the participants in the tense matches.
As a result of fierce matches in the 5-9 grade category, the team from Pavlivskyi Lyceum in the Bolhrad district won, defeating all their opponents.
Among the boys in grades 9-11, the strongest were the students of Kamchytskyi Lyceum in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district.
