From October 10 to 12, 2025, Odesa hosted the National Sambo Tournament in memory of the renowned coach Robert Babayants.
About 100 athletes from various regions of Ukraine participated, including Odesa, Kyiv, Odesa, Zhytomyr, and Mykolaiv regions.
The tournament featured individual and team competitions in the 'Wall to Wall' format for boys born in 2011-2013 and 2014-2016.
In the overall team standings, the team from Odesa took first place, followed by Kyiv in second and Zhytomyr region in third.
Team matches in the 'Wall to Wall' format also took place:
- 1st place – team 'Tatami' (Odesa);
- 2nd place – team 'Fanat' (Chornomorsk);
- 3rd place – team 'Tigers' (Odesa);
- 4th place – team 'Gorillas' (Kyiv).
This tournament, honoring the memory of the distinguished Odesa coach, has been held annually since 2011.
