Memorable Ukraine Fencing Cup 2025-2026

From October 15 to 20, the Ukraine Fencing Cup took place in Kyiv, marking the beginning of the 2025-2026 season for adult competitors.

This tournament, held at the CSK ZSU sports complex, gathered 345 participants, including 153 women and 192 men.

The champion of the Ukraine Cup was Odesa fencer Alina Komashchuk (coaches – Oleksandr Vasyutin, Nikita Stolbunov). In the finals, she defeated the 2023 trophy holder Oleksandra Bondar from Mykolaiv. In the semifinals, Alina overcame the reigning cup holder Daria Gontsova from Cherkasy with a score of 15:9. This marks her second victory at the Ukraine Cup.

In the men's competition, Andriy Yahodka (coach – Oleksandr Vasyutin) earned a silver medal. He had an impressive run, achieving 10 consecutive victories in the tournament (6 in the pool, 4 in the main bracket), but fell short against Kyiv’s Oleksiy Statsenko in the final, losing 5:15. Prior to this, Andriy had won 8 out of the last 10 Ukraine Cups.
