The Mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, met with the Secretary General of UITP, Mr. Mohamed Mezghani, during the InnoTrans 2024 exhibition in Berlin.

During the meeting, they discussed the transport challenges Odessa faces, including the need to upgrade electric transport, increased passenger load, issues of inclusivity, and cashless payment systems.

Mr. Mezghani expressed his full support and readiness to assist Odessa in addressing its transport issues, highlighting UITP's role as a platform for over 1900 organizations worldwide.

It was decided that Odessa would submit a request for an upgrade of its bus fleet, and UITP would help facilitate this through humanitarian assistance.

Additionally, both parties agreed to participate together at the UITP International Summit in Hamburg next year.
