In April 2023, YouTube once again took the lead among platforms for content viewing on smart TVs. According to the latest Nielsen report, Google’s service accounted for 12.4% of the viewing time spent by users on television.
This platform has maintained its top position for three consecutive months, achieving the highest share of viewing time this month. As for other platforms, their rankings have remained unchanged since the beginning of 2023.
The top five also includes Disney, which features the most popular series of April, "Grey's Anatomy", Paramount with the largest growth compared to the previous month, along with NBC Universal and Netflix.
It is worth noting that in February, reports indicated a growing number of users turning to YouTube on televisions, leading to a decline in smartphone usage for viewing purposes. This aligns with the company's vision, which is preparing updates to allow YouTube to display content from other streaming services.
Additionally, the popularity of YouTube is bolstered by podcasts that are actively published on the platform. According to Google, over 1 billion people watch them each month.
