YouTube has begun testing a new feature that enables content creators to add collaborators to their videos. According to Engadget, this function resembles the collaborative posting mechanisms found in Instagram and TikTok. The primary goal is to enhance cross-promotion of channels among diverse audiences.
Main creators will have the ability to specify other collaborators on the video, and their names will be displayed next to the main author's name on the channel page. In cases with numerous collaborators, the mobile version will show the phrase “...and others,” which will reveal the full list with “Subscribe” buttons.
The process of adding a collaborator is likely to be similar to that on Instagram and TikTok: the main content creator will need to send an invitation that the other creator must accept. It is also currently unclear whether collaborators will have access to the video statistics visible to the main author.
A Google representative in the YouTube Help forum indicated that the feature is currently available to a limited number of users. YouTube plans to consider feedback from testers before making a decision on a wider rollout of the feature.
