OpenAI Enhances ChatGPT with New Digital Wellbeing Features

OpenAI has announced new features in ChatGPT designed to enhance the digital wellbeing of users. Now, during extended sessions, the artificial intelligence will gently remind users to take breaks.

Starting from August 4, users will see subtle prompts encouraging them to pause during long usage periods. The company plans to improve how and when these reminders appear to ensure they are natural and helpful.

OpenAI emphasizes that the success of its service is no longer measured by clicks or time spent in the app. Instead, they assess whether users received the answers they were seeking.

The company aims not to capture your attention but to help you use it effectively. They stress the importance of achieving results rather than merely counting time spent.

Another significant change concerns sensitive topics. ChatGPT will no longer provide direct answers to questions like, "Should I get a divorce?".

According to the company, for such inquiries, ChatGPT should facilitate contemplation of the situation by asking questions and weighing options.

OpenAI has also placed special emphasis on mental health issues. They acknowledged that the new model sometimes failed to recognize signs of emotional dependency in users.

The company is working on improving its models and developing tools that better detect signs of psychological stress, allowing ChatGPT to respond appropriately and direct users to verified resources when necessary.

Currently, OpenAI is collaborating with medical experts from over 30 countries, as well as researchers in human-computer interaction, to test these innovations and strengthen the ethical guidelines of the chatbot's operation.

They are actively working on enhancing ChatGPT's responses in critical moments when users exhibit signs of emotional or mental distress.

A new feature, ChatGPT Agent, will soon be launched, enabling users to perform specific tasks without direct chat interaction, such as planning events or booking medical appointments.
