Revamping the Personality of GPT-5: OpenAI's Response

OpenAI has announced plans to adjust the "personality" of GPT-5 following a wave of user criticism. Sam Altman stated on X that the company aims to make the model "warmer than the current version, but less annoying (for most users) than GPT-4o".

This decision came after backlash on social media, where users complained about the overly "corporate" behavior of the new model compared to its predecessors. Many noted that GPT-5 appears less natural in conversation and has lost the "personality" that previous versions had.

It is worth mentioning that shortly after the release of GPT-5, OpenAI allowed paying users to revert to GPT-4o through the model selector. Many users remarked that after upgrading to GPT-5, they lost not just a tool, but a companion.
