The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, in collaboration with EPAM Ukraine and WINWIN AI Center of Excellence, is hosting the first national hackathon focused on artificial intelligence – the Diia.AI Contest. The primary aim is to unite engineers, scientists, and experts in ethical AI use to develop new solutions for public services.
Participants will tackle real cases of AI integration into the "Diia" application. Ten teams with the strongest projects will present their work on Demo Day, with the best solutions set to be integrated into "Diia".
“We generated task ideas for the hackathon based on user requests and needs for the 'Diia' app. During the hackathon, teams will collaborate with mentors to develop AI solutions that will not only enhance service quality but may also serve as the foundation for new functionalities in 'Diia,' benefiting millions of Ukrainians,” says Danilo Tsvok, Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and CEO of WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.
Hackathon winners will receive grants up to $8,000 and mentorship from top experts at EPAM Ukraine. Engineers, scientists, and anyone experienced in AI solution development can participate, either in teams of 2-6 or individually.
The hackathon will focus on three main areas:
- AI for public services: the development of smart assistants, navigation within public services, and request formation based on user needs;
- AI services for businesses: creating services for automating reporting, legal support, and accounting for sole proprietors;
- AI for optimizing government processes: speeding up operational tasks, document analysis, data verification, and prototyping new services.
The hackathon will take place from November 14 to 23 in an online format, with the final Demo Day occurring offline in Kyiv on November 29. Details and registration are available at the link until November 12 inclusive.
