Starlink Update: Essential Information for Users

In October, Starlink notified some users with outdated software to update their systems by November 17, 2025. Those who disregard this notice risk having non-functional equipment.

According to the support page, customers who received notifications are divided into two groups:

  • customers who must connect their Starlink terminal to a power source by November 17, or their kit will become permanently non-functional;
  • customers who need to connect their Starlink terminal to a power source and perform a software update. Starting November 18, their kit will not have Internet access until the update is completed.

Only users who received an email or app notification need to take action. Each message also contains a Starlink identifier indicating which kits need updating.
If your email's subject reads "Attention! Connect your Starlink terminal to power for a critical update," place the kit outdoors and connect it to a power source; a clear view of the sky is not required. You can monitor the update process in the app, which will take between 15 to 30 minutes.

If your email's subject is "Attention! Update Software," follow these steps:

  • Turn on Starlink (no need to take it outside);
  • connect to an existing Wi-Fi network and open the app;
  • update the Starlink terminal in the app via the "Manual Update" option;
  • click "Update Now" and do not close the app or disconnect from Wi-Fi during this procedure.

Software version 2024.05.0 is crucial for downloading updates. Kits running versions prior to 2024.05.0 cannot download updates and must be connected to power and aimed at the sky to receive the necessary software.
Kits with versions between 2024.05.0 and 2024.12.26 can download updates through the app.
