Maintenance of Rainwater Drainage System in Odesa

The municipal enterprise «City Roads» consistently maintains the rainwater drainage systems in optimal condition.

Experts carry out repairs and cleaning of storm collectors, catch basin grates, rain wells, and specialized hydraulic structures such as drainage ditches and buffer ponds from silt, debris, and vegetation.

Cleaning of the rainwater drainage systems in Odesa is performed regularly according to the city-wide plan. During heavy rains, emergency crews of «City Roads» work additionally on the streets. The workers clear the grates from fallen leaves and other debris carried by the rainwater, ensuring an efficient drainage of water from the city streets.

In the past eleven months, the enterprise's employees performed cleaning of: ditches and channels - 16,887 linear meters, catch basins - 4,374, collectors - 5,273 linear meters, and flushed pipes - 23,999 linear meters.

Additionally, they mowed grass on ditches and channels of hydraulic structures (10,465 linear meters) and cleaned 1,735.6 square meters of the buffer pond.

Cleaning of rainwater drainage systems is carried out manually and using heavy machinery, including excavators, graders, and high-pressure hydraulic units based on MAN trucks.

The specialists also repair wells, replace pipes in catch basins, and when necessary, adjust the level of grates and inspection well covers.

Since the beginning of 2024, the workers have installed and replaced 58 grates on catch basins and repaired 34 catch basins with new castings.

During operation, the grates of rain wells sink, creating potholes on the road, which can lead to accidents. The specialists from «City Roads» regularly address this issue.

They also repaired 8 inspection wells, replacing the castings and installed covering slabs on inspection wells (4 units) and catch basins (12 units).
