The municipal enterprise «Water Resources» manages 16 public wells located throughout Odesa. The depth of the extraction wells ranges from 111 to 149 meters.
On average, each well dispenses between 8 to 12 cubic meters of purified water during the working shift (from 08:00 to 20:00). This water is available to all city residents.
Water samples from the wells are tested monthly to ensure compliance with sanitary standards.
On November 17, 2024, due to a massive strike on the energy sector, water and energy supply in Odesa was suspended, leading to a significant influx of visitors to the wells. On November 17 and 18, approximately 13,000 and 12,000 people sought drinking water, respectively.
Under normal circumstances, about 10,000 visitors use the city's wells daily. Each well is equipped with an alternative power source in case of electricity outages.
