For 2024, the replacement of 91 elevators is planned pending sufficient funding from the city budget. Additionally, funds have been allocated to repair 44 elevators that have been in service for over 25 years.
The cost of replacing one elevator ranges from 1.5 to 2.3 million UAH depending on the building's height and elevator capacity. The average repair time for an elevator is up to two months.
According to the Department of Municipal Economy, new elevators have been installed in residential buildings at the following addresses: 6 Nebesnoi Sotni St., 17 and 29 Simi Glodan (Ilfa and Petrov), 49 Academik Zabolotnyi St., 34 and 11 Prince Yaroslav the Wise (Academik Hlushko) Ave., and 164 Lustdorf Road.
Experts state that the modern elevators are 40% more energy-efficient. In case of a power outage, emergency evacuation is provided, allowing residents to reach the nearest floor without delay, thus minimizing the risk of being trapped in the elevator shaft.
Since 2016, more than 1,500 elevators have been replaced in Odessa. Due to the full-scale invasion, the elevator restoration program was temporarily halted, but this work has resumed as of early 2024.
Note
All new elevators are equipped with modern technology: frequency regulation units ensuring smooth door operation, and movement control units that extend the lifespan of the main hoist motor.
This equipment allows the use of motors with lower power consumption, thereby saving energy and enhancing comfort during use.
The cabins of all upgraded elevators are fitted with vandal-resistant materials that protect against mechanical damage. The elevators are also equipped with vandal-proof lamps and metal buttons that cannot be destroyed or removed. Mirrors and handrails are installed in all elevators.
