Swedish Delegation Visits Odesa to Support IDPs

Recently, as part of the collaboration between the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and donors, a delegation led by the Secretary General of the Swedish Red Cross, Ulrika Modeer, visited Odesa.

During the visit, the Swedish delegation toured the psychosocial assistance center for internally displaced persons and those affected by the conflict.

The director of the Odesa City Council Social Services Center, Yuliya Haidary, and the head of the psychosocial assistance center, Lyudmyla Tsvitkova, informed the representatives of the Swedish Red Cross about the center's activities and their fruitful cooperation with the Odesa regional organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross. Thanks to this partnership, IDPs receive ongoing psychosocial support and can participate in joint events aimed at facilitating the adaptation of those affected by the conflict in their new environment.

At the conclusion of the event, Secretary General Ulrika Modeer emphasized the importance of building local capacity.

Additional Information

On December 15, 2023, following renovations funded by the city budget, the psychosocial assistance center for internally displaced persons and those affected by conflict began operations in Odesa. Since its opening, the center has accommodated 266 individuals, including 97 children, 4 with disabilities, 38 elderly individuals, and 20 persons with disabilities.

During its operation, the center's specialists provided: 178 legal consultations, 534 psychological consultations, 469 individual consultations for adults, social support for 70 families/individuals in difficult life circumstances, and conducted 65 group psychological sessions for children and adults.
