Law Enforcement Collaboration During Wartime

Discussion on law enforcement collaboration in wartime and support from international allies.

The head of the EUAM representation in Odesa, Anders Johansen, along with his colleagues, expressed respect for local police and solidarity in their fight against Russian aggression. 

Police officers, led by the head of the National Police in the Odesa region, Ivan Zhuk, provided information about the challenges they are currently facing. They discussed crimes committed by enemy forces, ensuring the safety of civilians, and combating transnational crime, including illegal drug and arms trafficking. 

During the discussion, significant attention was paid to the modernization and enhancement of the police's physical and material resources needed for their extensive work. 

European partners emphasized their support for the Odesa police in these challenging conditions and the provision of comprehensive assistance to improve their effectiveness. Specifically, they discussed sharing best practices and professional equipment from European countries.

The regional police chief thanked the Mission representatives for their ongoing cooperation and support.
