Since the beginning of 2025, the company "Naftogaz" has imported approximately 800 million cubic meters of gas due to hostile actions and a reduction in domestic production.
This was announced by the press service of "Naftogaz".
The acting head of the board, Roman Chumak, shared this information during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.
"As a result of shelling, we have lost part of our gas production, so our priority is to restore damaged facilities and resume production before the next heating season.
At the same time, the Group continues to import gas to offset losses and build necessary reserves – since the beginning of the year, around 800 million cubic meters have been imported", the statement said.
Naftogaz also reported ongoing discussions with the government and international partners to secure funding for the required gas volumes for the upcoming winter.
It is worth noting:
Due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, Ukraine may import a record 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe.
