New Funding for Shelters in Ukrainian Schools

During a meeting on April 18, the Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate 830 million UAH for the modernization of shelters in general secondary education institutions.

This information was shared by Taras Melnychuk, the government representative in the Verkhovna Rada, on his Telegram channel.

"These funds are intended to support the works on creating safe shelters in educational institutions. Funding will be provided to 15 communities, as well as to the regional budgets of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions," - noted Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in his message.

He emphasized that over the past two years, the government has allocated a record 14 billion UAH for shelters in schools.

It is worth noting that in 2024, Kyiv plans to allocate 2.4 billion UAH for the modernization of shelters, improving fire safety in schools, preparing them for winter, and creating educational hubs for the subject "Defense of Ukraine".
