Enhancing Accessibility in Odesa

Today in Odesa, an important meeting took place discussing accessibility issues with experts from Kyiv, representatives of city structures, and the Accessibility Council. The gathering was led by Oleksandr Filatov, the first deputy mayor.

As Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov noted, Odesa is one of 15 cities involved in the «Movement Without Barriers» project, supported by the First Lady Olena Zelenska.

The project, funded by various budgets, aims to establish a pedestrian route in the Peresyp district that will connect social facilities with the North-South tram line.

The route will run from the intersection of Prince Volodymyr the Great Avenue to the Odesa Regional Clinical Hospital, including access to the Administrative Services Center. The route will feature accessible elements: pedestrian pathways, ramps, public transport stops, and informational systems for people with disabilities.

Currently, work approvals are ongoing with a team of experts conducting inspections of the facilities.

Additionally, the expert group visited the Odesa coastline to review the progress of works on creating an inclusive beach and other social infrastructure objects.
