On August 19, 2025, an important meeting was held to determine suitable locations for mobile shelters in areas where people tend to gather, following the directive from Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The meeting was chaired by acting Deputy Mayor Serhiy Kotsiuba and advisor Oleksiy Morozov, who focuses on accessibility issues.
Key departmental representatives participated in the meeting: Director of the Department of Education and Science Olena Buinevych, Director of the Department of Labor and Social Policy Olena Kytainska, and Director of the Department of Internal Policy Oleksandr Zhiltsov.
“Our goal is to provide Odesans with safe spaces in their daily environments. It is crucial to quickly identify locations and confirm that the shelters meet all standards,” emphasized Serhiy Kotsiuba.
The key topics included ensuring that existing mobile shelters comply with regulations and identifying priority locations near areas with large gatherings.
“Accessibility in safety matters is fundamental. Mobile shelters must be accessible to people with disabilities and all mobility-impaired groups—from approaches to navigation within the space,” highlighted Oleksiy Morozov.
Following the meeting, the relevant departments will prepare proposals for locations and provide coordinated information regarding the technical condition and compliance of the mobile shelters with requirements.
