Expansion of Traffic Monitoring Systems in Odesa

Odesa is considering expanding its traffic control systems to improve road safety.

An analysis of accident-prone locations conducted with the involvement of the National Police and local authorities has identified four new sites for installing automatic violation detection cameras.

Proposed monitoring points:

  • the intersection of Mykhailo Hrushevskyi St. and Protsenka St.: two cameras will be installed here to monitor opposing and same-direction traffic. In 2024, there were 5 accidents with injuries recorded here;
  • the intersection of Heavenly Hundred Ave. and School Aerodrome St.: two cameras will monitor traffic towards Levitan St. Over the last three years, there have been 12 accidents with injuries;
  • the intersection of Lustdorf Road and Breus St.: one camera will capture oncoming traffic towards Admiral Avenue. There have also been 12 accidents with injuries recorded here;
  • 3rd station of Lustdorf Road: one camera will monitor oncoming traffic towards Heroes of Kruty St. Over the last three years, there have been 9 accidents with injuries.

The installation of the cameras has been approved by the National Police and complies with the requirements of the automated violation detection system established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The decision to expand the network of cameras will be presented to the Odesa City Council for consideration soon. It is expected that the new devices will help reduce the number of accidents and improve driver discipline on the city's roads.
