A woman in Odessa has been charged with abuse of influence, facing up to eight years in prison along with asset confiscation.
Officers from the Strategic Investigations Department in Odessa collaborated with police detectives to apprehend the suspect.
The investigation revealed that a 50-year-old woman demanded $14,000 from a serviceman, promising to influence doctors for a favorable decision regarding his disability status. She threatened to create obstacles during his medical examination if he refused to pay.
The soldier reported the incident to the police, leading to the woman’s arrest after she received the money.
She has been charged under part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This crime carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison and asset confiscation.
The court has imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of bail set at 242,000 UAH.
The investigation continues. Law enforcement is identifying all individuals involved in the crime.
The prosecution is being led by the Black Sea District Prosecutor's Office.
