In Odesa region, law enforcement agencies have arrested the head of a local military recruitment center on suspicion of bribery. He faces up to ten years in prison along with asset confiscation.
According to the investigation, the official demanded two thousand dollars from a citizen in exchange for assistance in obtaining a new military registration document, removal from the electronic search system, and deferral from conscription during mobilization. He stated that without the payment, the issue could not be resolved.
Investigators documented the crime and arrested the official in downtown Odesa after he received the full amount in two installments. Police confiscated money and other evidence.
Based on the gathered evidence, he was charged under part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for receiving illegal benefits. This crime carries a penalty of up to ten years in prison and the possibility of being banned from holding certain positions.
The court has placed him in custody pending trial. The investigation continues under the supervision of the Odesa Specialized Prosecutor's Office.
