On October 4, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a resolution concerning the funding of meals for primary school students in general educational institutions.
According to this resolution, 70% of the costs for feeding students in grades 1-4 will be covered by the state budget, while the remaining 30% must come from the city budget.
Elena Buinevich, the director of the Department of Education and Science, stated that the draft decision of the Odesa City Council will be prepared in the shortest time possible.
It is planned that approximately 20,000 primary school students in Odesa's educational institutions will benefit from free meals.
«After the deputies review this issue and allocate funds from the city budget, the next step will be to conduct a tender. Currently, only children from privileged categories in grades 1-4 are fed at the city's expense in Odesa», she noted.
