In Odesa, elementary school students will be guaranteed meals until the end of the academic year.
The Odesa City Council has voted to allocate an additional 20 million UAH from the city budget.
Meal provision for students is funded through state subsidies and local budget contributions, with 70% covered by the state and 30% by the local budget.
Currently, the funds from the subsidies have run out, and no additional allocations are planned at this time.
"I believe it is wrong to stop meal provision in the middle of the academic year. I am glad that most of you share the same opinion. The decision made will ensure meals for students this academic year, regardless of the availability of state subsidies," stated Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
