Health Awareness Campaign in Odesa: A Recap

Last week, Odesa hosted a major health awareness event in celebration of World Health Day.

This initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the Health Department of the Odesa City Council and the Odesa City Health Center.

On this day, residents had the opportunity to undergo free comprehensive health screenings at primary healthcare centers, diagnostic centers, and city hospitals. Family doctors and therapists provided consultations, measured blood pressure, blood glucose levels, pulse, and conducted ECG tests. If necessary, patients were issued electronic referrals for laboratory tests and specialist consultations.

The campaign resulted in 2536 Odesa residents participating in preventive screenings at local medical facilities. Additionally, with the support of the Kyiv District Administration, doctors from Family Medicine Center No. 3 examined 55 individuals — visitors and staff of the administrative building.
During the screenings, 331 cases of high blood pressure and 200 cases of elevated blood glucose levels were identified. Following ECG evaluations, 258 patients were referred to a cardiologist.

For patients requiring further investigations, a total of 1112 electronic referrals for laboratory tests and 640 for specialist consultations were created. All patients received consultations from doctors.

Health days like this one are crucial for timely detection of health issues, raising public awareness about prevention and early diagnosis of diseases, and reminding everyone of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
