Supporting Soldiers through Blood Donation: The Importance of Blood in Wartime

Since the onset of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the demand for blood donations has surged dramatically. Medical professionals at Primary Health Care Center No. 16 are well aware of this need and have organized their eleventh collective blood donation event this week.

«Our military selflessly defends us. When they are injured, we can show our gratitude by sharing a part of our blood to save their lives. We must continue this support and do everything we can,» said the director of PHCC No. 16, Hanna Pavlega, who regularly donates blood and inspires her team by example.

During the event, fifteen staff members from PHCC No. 16 donated blood. One donation can save up to three lives.

This blood donation was part of the city charity project «Weeks of Good Deeds».

Today, as Ukraine continues to defend itself for over three years, blood donation represents another line of defense. It is crucial for everyone without contraindications to participate in blood donation.

Blood donation not only saves lives but also benefits the donor:

  • prevention of cardiovascular diseases and thrombosis;
  • reduction of various cancer risks;
  • overall body rejuvenation.

Donors are granted two additional paid days off.
