Renovation work is ongoing at the Odessa City Clinical Infectious Disease Hospital.
Odessa's Mayor, Gennady Trukhanov, inspected the progress of the ongoing capital repairs and reconstruction of the hospital.
Currently, restoration work is being carried out on two historical buildings of the hospital – the Valikhovskyi and administrative buildings. The renovation is part of the Ukraine Recovery Program implemented by the government in collaboration with the European Investment Bank.
Additionally, the renovations in the children's department built in 1974 are nearing completion. This work is funded by the Odessa city budget. Comfortable semi-boxed wards with a special reverse ventilation system will be created here to prevent the spread of hospital-acquired infections.
Special attention is being paid to accessibility during the renovations. Entrances are equipped with convenient ramps in accordance with modern regulations. For the first time, elevators have been installed in the building, making it easier for patients and staff to move around.
“Soon, the infectious disease hospital will have a completely modernized department that meets all current requirements. This will enhance Odessa's capacity to combat infectious diseases. We continue to improve conditions in the city's medical facilities,” said Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
In 2025, the reconstruction of the bacteriological laboratory building at the infectious disease hospital is also planned.
The large-scale phased reconstruction of the city clinical infectious disease hospital began in 2015 with the construction of a boxed unit for patients with droplet infections. Subsequently, the hospital acquired a modern reception area, three new boxed departments, a state-of-the-art PCR laboratory, oxygen stations, and cryocylinders.
In 2024, with the support of UNICEF, an artesian well was put into operation at the infectious disease hospital, and a pump room was established to provide autonomous water supply. Solar panels have been installed on three of the hospital's buildings.
