Last week, healthcare facilities in Odesa conducted a preventive cancer screening initiative based on blood laboratory tests. This event was organized with the support of the Department of Health of the Odesa City Council and the Odesa Health Center.
On this day, anyone interested could freely check their hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) at the primary healthcare centers and diagnostic laboratories, either through self-referral or electronic referral.
As a result of the event, 815 individuals visited clinical diagnostic laboratories for cancer screening. There were 235 cases of abnormal ESR: 226 above normal and 9 below normal. Additionally, 214 patients had abnormal hemoglobin levels: 165 below normal and 49 above normal. These findings are crucial for early detection of changes potentially related to cancer diseases.
Patients with abnormal test results are advised to consult their family doctors for further examinations to rule out oncological conditions.
