Mental Health Initiatives for Healthcare Workers and Community

On October 16, 2025, a workshop titled “Mental Health — A Resource for Life” was held for healthcare professionals in Odesa. This event was organized by the Department of Health of the Odesa City Council and the Family Medicine Association in honor of World Mental Health Day.

This year, over 35,000 mental health services were delivered by medical institutions in Odesa to adults, children, internally displaced persons, and military personnel.

Sixteen psychological offices are currently operational within healthcare facilities in the city. Additionally, two integrated response centers have been established within Primary Healthcare Centers in the Kyiv and Peresyp districts, offering support from interdisciplinary teams to individuals in crisis, including those affected by war or gender-based violence.

Notably, the Mental Health Center established at the City Clinical Hospital No. 10 has become a vital hub for specialized assistance, where patients can receive not only psychological consultations but also medical-psychiatric support, rehabilitation services, and individual or group psychotherapy programs.

An additional Mental Health Center is set to open at Cluster Hospital No. 1 under a Memorandum of Cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD), currently undergoing renovations at the Jewish Hospital.

Psychological assistance at medical facilities in Odesa is provided free of charge as part of the nationwide mental health program “How Are You?”. All interested individuals can reach out to qualified specialists for psychological support.

The Odesa Department of Health pays special attention to the mental well-being of healthcare workers, organizing training sessions on burnout prevention and offering opportunities for individual consultations and support groups.
