Accessible Tourism in Odessa: New Opportunities

Today, December 5, 2024, a conference titled «Accessible Tourism for All» was held in Odessa.

The primary aim of the event is to unite the efforts of local authorities and businesses to enhance accessibility in the tourism industry.

This topic has been identified as a priority by the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine for 2024.

Despite the challenges of wartime, Odessa continues to welcome both domestic and international tourists, making it crucial to focus on infrastructure accessibility.

The conference gathered individuals with disabilities, government representatives, and business leaders to discuss the accessibility of cultural and tourist attractions. The participants also touched upon the topic of medical tourism.

«We are creating conditions where every resident and guest of the city can move freely and access necessary services. Hotels, restaurants, museums, and transportation must be adapted for people with disabilities,» emphasized Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

Additionally, participants discussed the current state of affairs, future plans, grant programs, and the involvement of businesses in developing an accessible environment in Odessa.
