The Juvenile Police of Ukraine is joining forces with the railway company to tackle the dangerous trend of teen — 'catching the train'.
Teens are climbing onto train roofs, hanging onto moving trains, and crossing tracks in prohibited areas for the thrill.
This is not extreme sports; it poses real risks to life: deadly injuries, amputations, electric shocks.
From April 10 to May 10, 2025, a joint preventive campaign will be launched by the Juvenile Police and the railway company.
Over the course of this month:
- we will visit schools and vocational colleges
- we will talk openly and accessibly with children
- along with experts, we will explain why the railway is not a place for games!
What should you do if you witness dangerous behavior among children on the railway?
If you are at a station and see children who:
- are trying to climb onto a wagon
- are already on the roof
- are playing near the tracks
Act immediately but carefully.
Notify the station duty officer or any railway staff member.
Call the police (102) or emergency services (101) — professionals will respond promptly.
Make a remark to or call out to children planning to engage in 'catching the train' or who are already outside the passenger car.
Document the event and the individuals involved — this will assist in identifying and informing parents.
Be alert to your own children. Talk to them about the real risks!
