In Odesa, the Japanese Culture Days are being held to commemorate 60 years of sister city relations with Yokohama, Japan.
The event features artistic and educational activities titled “Japan – the Land of the Rising Sun.” Participants will immerse themselves in Japanese culture through communication sessions, art lessons, workshops, exhibitions, and screenings of animations and tea ceremonies.
The main events kick off on April 29 at the Central City Library named after I.Ya. Franko (Book Lane, 1a).
Audiences will have the chance to explore the richness of Japanese culture and the development of friendly ties between our cities.
“Our relationship with Yokohama is a story of how, despite distances and differences in language and traditions, cities can be close at heart,” said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.
Additionally, from April 28 to May 2, 2025, an exhibition titled “Mysterious Japan Through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists” will take place in the lobby of the Odesa City Hall (Birzhova Square, 1).
The event is organized with the support of the Faculty of Arts and Graphics of the South Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushynskyi and the Municipal Institution “City Art Gallery.”
