Accessibility week has begun in Ukraine. To mark the occasion, on May 20th, a nationwide conference titled «Path to Resilience» was held in Kyiv.
The event brought together deputy ministers, UNDP representatives, local government officials, and civil society members.
On behalf of Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov, Odessa was represented at the conference by the advisor on accessibility, Oleksiy Morozov, and the secretary of the Accessibility Council, Director of the Internal Policy Department, Oleksandr Zhiltsov.
During a panel discussion focused on creating accessible environments in communities, participants shared practical cases, tools, and challenges faced by Ukrainian cities.
The discussion was moderated by Tetiana Lomakina, the President's Advisor on Accessibility Issues.
«Accessibility is about people and for people. It’s encouraging that Odessa’s experience is attracting interest. We share our successes and draw inspiration from new ideas,» said Oleksiy Morozov.
«We have a clear understanding of how this works, as Odessa is already establishing a system based on dialogue, collaboration, and real changes that are visible to people,» added Oleksandr Zhiltsov.
Odessa's experience in inclusion is becoming part of the national dialogue on sustainable community development. This confirms the city’s commitment to accessibility and engagement.
