Forest Tragedy: A Murder Over a Card Game

Last October, a horrific murder was uncovered in a forest near the Balta community. A man's body was found severely mutilated and charred. Investigators determined that two men, aged 62 and 29, were involved, having consumed alcohol with the deceased.

This was reported by the police of the Odessa region.

During the gathering, a quarrel escalated into a brawl - guests against the host. The 29-year-old restrained the host, while the elder stabbed him in the chest with a knife he carried. This blow was fatal - the victim died on the spot.

To cover up the crime, the perpetrators transported the body to the woods, where they mutilated it, including decapitating it, and set it on fire. The younger assailant was apprehended at home.

During the pre-trial investigation, the court imposed a preventive measure of detention without the right to bail.

The older man fled immediately after the crime and began hiding from justice. Materials related to him were separated into a separate proceeding, and he has been declared wanted.

The vehicle used by the suspects, communication devices, and other items relevant to the case were seized, and after expert examinations, were added to the case materials as physical evidence.

The pre-trial investigation concerning the 29-year-old, previously convicted for property crimes, has been completed.

He is accused of murder committed by prior conspiracy of a group of individuals. The case has been forwarded to court.

The maximum penalty for this crime is life imprisonment.
