Fortunately, no one was harmed due to the boys' reckless behavior. Law enforcement conducted preventive talks with the children and issued administrative protocols against the parents, who now face fines.
Recently, during an internet monitoring operation, police discovered a video in one of the messenger groups showing four teenagers mixing household chemicals in a bottle and throwing it in the stairwell, resulting in an explosion.
Juvenile inspectors from the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district police department registered this information, identified the boys, and located them.
Officers learned that the 12-year-old local friends had replicated an experiment they saw on social media for fun.
“These families had not been previously known to law enforcement. We warned the youths about the dangers of such antics, and reminded the parents of their responsibility to supervise where and with whom their children spend their time. We issued protocols against the adults under part 1 of article 184 of the Code of Ukraine on administrative offenses, which qualifies parental neglect of duties regarding the upbringing and education of minors. This offense is punishable by a fine up to 1,700 UAH. The administrative materials have been sent to court,” commented the chief of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district police, Pavlo Bobchynskyi.
Police urge parents to be more attentive to their children, explaining the dangers posed by household chemicals and other potentially explosive substances, as well as the consequences of unlawful acts.
