Are you unsure how to engage with people who have combat experience?
Get insights that will help you interact respectfully, through an interactive simulator developed for the educational series «People with War Experience. Dignity. Interaction».
For instance:
* in the middle of the night, you wake up because your partner, who returned from the front lines, suddenly pushes you. He is also awake but does not realize he is home and continues to «fight» as he did in his dreams. What should you do next?
* at work, a veteran colleague starts making jokes about grim topics like death, injuries, or war. How should you respond?
The simulator will offer several action options and provide expert explanations — this will help you understand how your behavior can affect your interaction with someone who has combat experience.
Remember that each person's experience is unique and requires an individual approach. If you are unsure how to act appropriately, be sincere, patient, and don't hesitate to ask questions.
For more information on how to interact properly with veterans, check out the educational series «People with War Experience. Dignity. Interaction», available on the Diia.Education platform and the YouTube channel «How are you?»
This educational series was created at the initiative of the Ministry of Digital Transformation as part of the communication campaign «How are you?» of the National Mental Health Program, launched by the First Lady Olena Zelenska. The project continues the section «Guide to Accessibility» — a guide for appropriate communication — and is implemented with the support of the Coordination Center for Mental Health of the Cabinet of Ministers, the public organization «Barrier-Free», and Visa, a member of the community «Business Without Barriers».
